Sure, if Mattel limited themselves to only one line for MoS, then if it failed, it would cost them far less than the multiple lines they're doing now. But that's not what I was getting at with my previous post.
Jestermon said that they'd have the same result "with more expensive figures that didn't sell as they would with cheaper figures that didn't sell". My point was that wasn't true. They would have put far less money into the front end (R&D, materials, etc) with a cheaper line, therefore losing less in the long run if the line ultimately fails at retail. If it succeeds in spite of the lower cost, then hey, more money for Mattel.

I was reading MWCtoys.com's review of the MOS Movie Masters and he said that despite the cheaper figures being available, the Movie Masters are actually better toys overall for kids. I agree.
As do I. And if my daughter was into Superman beyond the flashy cape, I'd totally get her the 6" figures over the 3.75" ones.

But you still played with them and let your imagination fill in the blanks, right? They were still a lot of fun to me, even if they couldn't do everything they did in the show or comics.

Plus I've never seen kids getting 3.75/4" figures.
And I usually see just the opposite. Even still, one or two examples don't define retail trends in any given market - way too small of a sample size.
