If you were creating the Hulk today, how would you write his origin? He has to have the same look, powers and abilities (i.e. fueled by rage, can't always control the change, etc). Personally, I'd opt for a chemical cocktail a la the original inspiration for the Hulk: Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde.

Just not being stuck in the path of a gamma bomb. Some sort of genetic treatment that gets out of control or some exotic particle that doesn't exist in science that can magically react with human dna or something. It doesn't have so make sense as I said before, these days it just shouldn't be something that's easily proven. Magic and made up stuff still works. It's part of why we accept Spider-Man's spider bite because it never says exactly how the spider is made or what kind of radiation (I think). I'm not trying to over think it but just explain why they don't continue to use the more silly origins when creating new characters (it would be lazy). The only exceptions are creating a character based off an established character. It's like how She-Hulk got he powers from a blood transfusion. I mean, sure, whatever.
