I, as a serious collector enjoy the hunt, if anyone could get any figure at any time for retail prices there would be no challenge, its like baseball cards, comics, or anything that is "collected" The chase of "Rare" items, the bragging rites of a great find, struggling to complete a collection, those are my drugs! and continually re-hashing the same molds over and over is lazy, profiteering bullshit! what's there argument for doing this? to attract new collectors to a dead line? Why? Three years ago I got my red hulk at retail, (after much searching)now I can go to BBTS and buy one in a "new" package! It just gives me a case of the why bothers. think of it like this, you work hard bust your ass and buy a brand new Porsche, then the next day the government gives everyone else the same car for free, if your ass is not chapped, your either an dead, a hippie, an idiot, or you put no value on your time and effort. If you truly believe that toys have no value, ask yourself this: if they were bio-degradable, ten year shelf life then they rot, would you buy them? I guess I'm just a relist, I'm not going to sit on a moral high horse spouting on about the "virtues" of collecting, everything has a monetary value assigned by the market. you want to play, you have to pay that's life. And it "bothers" me when, (to complete a collection) I need to buy the same figure 3,4,or 5 times. I know there's no gun to my head, but FU its my hobby.

I can understand that point of view for sure. I know the hunt and that feeling of acquiring something new can be a bit of a drug, more so when it's harder to get. I do think that for new collectors just finding the line or maybe those that are younger and just getting into collecting it is important that they can get some of the older stuff at a good rate. I know lots of people won't bother with certain lines because the past stuff costs so much. I had some minimates and that is why I got out of them. I had X-Force and the 90's X-Men but then I looked at getting some of the other teams I really wanted and decided didn't make since to continue given the prices.

Red Hulk was my first MU followed by Hobgoblin. I never really thought of Thanos or Red Hulk as being terribly hard to get as I've seen them enough and you could always find one on ebay for around $20-$25 if you are patient. Both of those were put into team packs and reissued before which made them much easier to get. I really find it nicer when I know figures will be at the store and then I can wait for a sale to get them. I don't tend to care for the challenge, at least not here where the only store that carries this stuff is TRU and the local LCS or toy scalp shop. I get to see just about every figure but rarely shows up at retail. I see it pegwarm at the LCS or toy store because they want $40 for Nova when he first ships or $35 for X-Force Deadpool. Finding them isn't a challenge with stores like that or ebay. Finding them at retail can often be impossible. It was different before I moved from California but now I am glad for stuff like the movie lines that ship a ton and I can get whatever figure I want easily.

At least they have given us some variety for the popular guys, even though some has been in movie lines. Spider-Man has classic, black costume, Future Foundation, Bag Head, 1st Appearance, Iron Spider-Man, etc. They can still give us Cosmic or Big Time or the silver/black armored version. Just keep slipping in new costumes and I am fine. Cap and Iron Man seem to see the most reissuing of the same costumes with changes to certain parts of the figure. I still want to see 90's Modular Iron Man or Marvel NOW. I think the 80's Cyclops, standard Cap, standard Spider-Man, and Extremis Iron Man need to go back into the vault for awhile.

Elektra, Mysterio still Coming Soon though..

From the pictures that looks like the old Red Hulk Mold. Confusing they went with that instead of cranking out more of the new ones from the 3-pack. I like the bigger one better I think but I've never seen the new one in person.
