Very few collectors even want every figure, much less buy them all.

if DC Direct can bring big hunks of plastic like Killer Croc or Solomon Grundy to specialty stores then Mattel could do a profitable run of a Doomsday. The reason they aren't is because they want to hold people hostage to buy subs.

At the least they should just take preorders for a handful of figures and that will give them a good idea of the demand and how many to make. The figures still get made, they make money, and any figure that doesn't get enough preorders doesn't get made. Then the market decides what get made. I would love to see Hasbro do something like this for characters that they don't think will sell at retail. If we want a character we will pay but we won't pay for the ones we don't want.
