I wasn't a big fan of the way Extremis was handled in IM3, either, but the next episode uses a completely different McGuffin. So that shoots down your "Krpytonite monster" theory.

I wasn't stunned, but I do consider it a missed opportunity. He had a different name and Luke doesn't have any kids (I don't even remember him ever being married). So he was obviously meant to be a different character from the get-go.

I really like it, because it helps add to the overall Marvel Cinematic Universe. It may be a part of future contracts - along the same lines as multi-film deals.

I'm also hoping that they use AoS to introduce characters for future movies. It'd be a great way to get characters in that aren't big enough for their own movies and don't fit in with the ones already being used.
