It's a very potent defense item, but it's a bit of roulette since a lot depends on timing and using it on the "right" character at the right time (The Emerald Prism isn't a quick action, so you're forgoing any attack to use it). I've had games where my opponent had it, but they used it on a character that was already nearly dead (for example).

If the AI is "smart" though and say, keeps using it on the same character, it can get very potent very fast. Also useful in conjunction with one or more "buff" items as the Emerald Prism's Glow acts as a "rebuff" as well. In fact, I've seen a fair number of agents set up purely as "supporters" in this PvP season...carrying nothing but buff/healing items and no weaponry (Neurotrope, Shepherd's Staff, Protector of Attilan, and Emerald Prism seems to be one I run into fairly frequently...sometimes swapping out a Scroll of Oricebi Nomaj or Scroll of Angolob if one of the items isn't available).
