The latest edition of Figure-Oh contains a short write up on the soon to debut Japanese dub of Transformers Animated, containing a listing of the first four episodes and a cast list for all the major characters appearing in the first three episodes (as a certain monotone Decepticon is not listed).

The series in Japan kicks off with the three part "Transform and Roll Out" as in the US, renaming the three parts "New Chapter! Transformers", "Hero, The name is Autobot" and "Secret of the Allspark" respectively. The plot outlines accompanying each episode appears to indicate no major changes to the plot. Episode four, however, skips ahead - instead of the original US episode four, Japan gets episode 10, "Sound and Fury", here retitled to the slightly less imaginative "Operation: Soundwave". Again the synopsis suggests that there is no major change to the structure of the episode, aside from it being bumped to a much earlier point in the series in line with what we heard that episodes featuring key characters would be brought forward.

In addition, we have some casting news, a full breakdown of which can be accessed by clicking on the title of this story. The new voice actors announced continues the trend of bringing in respected veteran voice actors with a wide range of experience from many different anime series as a part of an all-star cast. Of particular note are Jin Yamanoi as Starscream and Ryoka Uzuki as Blackarachnia, who are reprising their roles from the Japanese dubs of Transformers Armada and Beast Wars respectively.

Many thanks to 2005 Boards member DrillBIT for providing translations. Do you approve of this cast list and their extensive list of past credits? What do you make of the relocation of the all-important Japanese debut of Professor Princess to the earliest possible occasion. Discuss this, and everything else relating to this news on our 2005 Boards by clicking discuss.

In addition, we have some casting news. Alongside the previously posted credits that confirmed Optimus Prime being voiced by Hiroki Takahashi and Bumblebee by Daisuke Kishio, the article gives a full Japanese voice actor listing for the pilot episodes. On the Autobot side, Ratchet will be voiced by Toru Okawa, who also provided the voice of Armada Optimus Prime in the Japanese Micron Legend series; Ironhide (formerly Bulkhead) will be voiced by Kenta Miyake, who voiced Landmine and Omega Supreme in the Japanese dub of Transformers Energon; Prowl will be voiced by Kouji Yusa, who provided the voice of Demolishor in the Japanese dub of Transformers Armada and Energon. The Autobot side's voice actors are rounded out by Banjo Ginga as Ultra Magnus, Junichi Suwabe as Sentinel Prime, and Ayahi Takagaki providing the voice of the Teletraan I computer system.

On the Decepticon side, along with the previously confirmed Norio Wakamoto as Megatron, we have Jin Yamanoi as Starscream, who is no stranger to Starscream having voiced him in the Japanese dub of Transformers Armada along with Tidal Wave; Blitzwing will be voiced by Cho aka Shigeru Nagashima while Lugnut will be voiced by Kentaro Itou. Ryoka Uzuki reprises her role from Beast Wars as Blackarachnia to round out the currently announced Decepticon cast. Three human voice actors have also been announced - Sari as previously revealed will be voiced by Satomi Akesaka, with Isaac Sumdac voiced by Takashi Nagasako and Captain Fanzone voiced by Nobuo Tobita.
