That still is not fair to retail employees though. I used to work at Best Buy (for 5 years), I know how much Black Friday sucks. The problem is, stores are opening up earlier and earlier and not even letting their employees know ahead of time. Two years ago I walked into the store and asked one of my former managers what he thought about the store opening at midnight and he had no idea what i was talking about. Not a single person in corporate had even let a single employee know they would be opening at midnight until two weeks before Thanksgiving AFTER it was already all over the media. Last year, they found out they were opening up at 10PM when the ads came in. -_-

Thanksgiving and Xmas are the only days retail employees have that are supposed to be a guaranteed day off. This working bullshit has got to stop. Soon stores will be opening up at 5pm on Xmas day.

Worst part is also the managers who have to work split shifts. Managers that work on Thanksgiving 7pm-7am have to be back at 5pm to close.
