i wish they'd do it more often.. but they have done it a few times.. usually new stuff is shown during toyfair's, botcon, or SDCC.
also.. i believe the news that came along with the photo of ratrap was that this was a preview to the next wave of generations figures. a couple weeks ago or so, his name showed up on a listing in walmart computers.. so it was known that he was getting released before the photo came out.

oh joy.. more crappy figures.. i'm fine with hasbro doing this crap.. just as long as there is something for adults as well. like the 6" figures.. but the problem has been that there aren't very many 6" figures released.. take iron man.. there are only two figures from the movie out of two waves.. the first wave (in my area) sold so poorly that it took just about til when the dvd was released for wave two to hit shelves.. and the TRU stores in my area JUST stocked wave 2 last week. and out of ALL OF THE ARMORS in the movie, hasbro only gave us two of them.. we still haven't gotten the mandarin and there hasn't been any mention of the real villain at all.
the first spider man wasn't bad.. there were like two movie spider man figures and the lizard.. so that's not bad, but had there been more characters that warranted a toy.. i'm sure they would've failed.
with thor.. the only 6"+ figures are the marvel select figures.. which you can only get online or comic shops.
i love what they're doing with star wars.. i just wish they were able to pump out 6" figures the way they pump out 3.75" figures.
anyways.. i really wish they'd focus more on the movie characters in all of these lines.. for the most part it seems like they use movie lines to simply rehash older designs that don't sell very well because everyone already has figures that are similar.
