I think that Hasbro has to really catch up to there big "hulkish" figures such as Hulk and Thing and the possibility of Beast and etc. So I think that the SHS figures will surpass anyways
The earlier figures had the most problems, Wave 1. Spider Man, Wolverine and Capt. America were the most notorious for falling apart. Especially Black Suit Spidey who fell apart if you stared at him too long.

As for Wins and analysis between MU and SHS:
1) Thor - The SHS figure hands down is better even if the armored up Thor from MU is pretty cool. The 2 pack MU Thor doesn't even compare.
2) Venom - SHS is not bad and the comparison is the new Spiderman line. I found that if you add the Spiderman line Vemon head to the SHS body it looks awesome.
3) Daredevil (Red & Yellow versions) - SHS by a landslide
4) Colossus - SHS over the upcoming and the XMen Origins easily
5) Reed Richards - Again, SHS (both versions) destroys the MU version
6) Juggernaut - Having only seen pics of the MU version I'd say this is a toss up. MU might have the edge if the helmet is removable, if not SHS will have more articulation. SHS Juggernaut also has an open and closed mouth version/variant.
7) Namor - SHS beats the MU 4 pack version (they are the same "look")
8) Beast (Grey & Blue versions) - The Wolverine and the X-Men version isn't remotely close and I don't think MU will ever top it. The Grey version has a different head than the Blue and both are incredible.
9) Magneto - SHS by a landslide again. No comparison.
10) Wolverine (Costumed) - This is a toss up, but not because of the look of the figures. I think the SHS would win save for two facts. One is that the figure is flimsy (as are most wave 1 figures). Two, the paint apps aren't always done so well and sometimes the legs don't match so well with the rest of the figure. This is a shame b/c I think the MU Wolverines are too big and bulky and the XMen Origins are lacking something in the overall look.
11) Thing - Eh, this is another toss up. MU looks great and so does SHS. SHS has more articulation.
12) Black Spiderman - MU all the way. Black Spider was/is the best Spiderman they have made to date. The SHS is really cool but looks like Spiderman's little brother. It is smaller than the SHS Red and Blue Spidey and again, falls apart quickly.
13) Red/Blue Spidey - SHS easily over the chubby Wave 1 MU mold. The new MU mold coming out with Sentry might give the SHS a run for it's money but in all likely hood I'd still say SHS. The reason is that the SHS Spidey mold captured the figure perfectly. Skinny yet very strong looking plus loads of articulation. There is also a Chase Version with Green Eyes and Static that fits into his back for a Spider Sense look.
14) Punisher - I'm still hoping the new MU Target two pack gets us a little closer to a good Punisher. So far you can pick the SHS too tall and thin Punisher or the Steroid Monkey Headed MU version. The two pack, from the picks, look great and should lend themselves to a GI Joe head swap or two to make it perfect.
15) Dr. Doom - I would have to go with the MU version but the SHS version is pretty sweet. I use them as my Doombots.
16) Doc Oc - Spiderman line doesn't even come close.
17) Hulk - SHS is OK I guess, same with MU, I think the movie line was/is your best bet.
18) Ghost Rider - No MU so far but I know they are coming out with one. I can tell you this, there are two versions of Ghost Rider the modern and original in the SHS line. The modern is cool but not great. The original is pretty awesome though.
19) Sue Richards - Looks like evil Sue Richards in the SHS line but not horrible by any stretch. There are three versions in SHS, two in costume and one half invisible.
20) Wolverine (T-Shirt) - SHS destroys the XMen Origins line version (or animated version for that matter).
21) Wolverine (Motorcycle Cowboy) - Ugh they all suck.
22) Elecktra (White and Red versions) - SHS only, these go from Suck to Blow but there are no other versions. Buy only if you are desparate.
23) Cyclops - SHS is my preferred version but YMMV. I like the skinny Cyclops but I will admit that the XMen Origins version isn't horrible. the current MU version is horrible though. The pics of the upcoming MU version don't look so bad though.
24) Green Goblin - SHS kicks the Spiderman line version to the curb fast. Falls apart easily though.
25) Mole Man - Great looking SHS figure if you are a fan which I am not but until we get a Puck figure he is the reigning midget.
26) Iron Man - SHS figure is actually pretty frickin sweet however the new IM line is pure awesomeness. What is cool about Iron Man is you can have 8 million different versions of the dude. I loves my SHS version but he is second fiddle to the MU and movie versions. My favorite is still the Wave 1 MU version and his repaints.

I'm not sure if I missed any of the SHS figures (I probably did). I'd say the SHS figures are totally worth it though.
