While I think they're silly too, some fans will buy anything if their favorite "whatever" is on it. Just look at KISS; there's all kinds of crap with the band's logo and/or images on it and fans just eat it up. Hell, I'm still considering the purchase of that Linkin Park Soundwave - not because it has anything to do with LP, but because it's Soundwave. It doesn't even matter that I already own that mold multiple times over.
But getting back to HW and Starscream1973's pics. I have to say that the one in the last pic is pretty cool, as I really like the cape-as-a-spoiler design. That DC series and the similarly-styled Muppets series are sorely tempting because I love the idea of their "themed custom" looks. Something right out of Monster Garage, Fast N' Loud or Counting Cars.
