Once you get all there is to get the next level collector has to start getting a little nuts to keep the game going, Hell I'm looking for Original card art, Mock ups, and prototypes, why because no one else is...

Don't know why it would make me feel better or worse. I don't collect MOC and I am not a completest in any way. I just don't wast money on figures or characters I don't like. You may not think it's complete but you are a special breed. I just know that most people that collect these lines do not consider packaging mistakes or paint variants they were not intentional or hardly noticeable essential to a complete collection of retail figures. Otherwise it would be impossible for more than a few people have complete MU collections because of non-retail stuff like those Cage and Widow figures. They are all cool and some are very valuable (others not so much) but they are really their own category, especially when Hasbro often doesn't realize they exist. Hardly any MU collector would lose sleep at night because they don't have a certain carded figure that is slight different because of production problems at the factory. A lot of us would like to have the unreleased Cage or Black Widow, but mostly because they are rare and unreleased. Had they been put out to retail many wouldn't care about them and if we all wanted them so badly the prices would have gone much higher when they hit ebay a while back.

I'm not saying that anyone is wrong for collecting the way they do and I'm not taking away from great collections that have those things. I'm just saying that most of us won't ever feel these things are important enough to pay for. Heck, some people can't bring themselves to pay $15 shipped for a $10 figure. Just look at it this way. If you want to sell a collection that has all the retail figures, official variants, and con-exclusives you will attract a certain group of buyers. If you want to sell a collection that had all the other stuff in it that most people don't care about or never made it to retail you will have a much smaller pool of buyers. The kind of people that would pay hundreds or thousands extra to get every little packaging mistake would most likely have a near complete collection to already. Look at Star Wars collecting. Some people work hard to get all the logo variants or $10,000 Boba Fett prototypes from the vintage figures but most don't. That division of interest is what makes them two separate things.
