variant means variation..... those are clearly different. I agree with raf. I dont collect variants though, but I think the one with the short fringe would make a nice repaint into a more classic look.

The back of the hair is more or less at the same length and the part in the hair are completely different. And judging by the eyebrows it looks like it was meant to come down all the way. A mishap in the mould for the hair....equals variant for the moc variant guys.
