From here on out anyone ready should be expecting
*spoilers*
since the movie is out now.
Just got back and wanted to give some quick thoughts.
-Great pacing for the movie and felt it was over too soon even though it was a solid length.
-By the time Winter Soldier showed up I had COMPLETELY forgotten he was supposed to be in the movie. That's not bad. He didn't actually showed up pretty early on but there was so much going down right from the start the movie totally pulled me in. Nick Fury being a total BAMF was great and I even thought they might actually kill him off for a minute there.
-I had done my best to not see much about this movie outside of trailers and promo clips so I went in fairly clean. I was expecting something to do with Hydra or one of their projects but this was much more. Marvel did the same thing in their promotion of this movie that they did in IM3, by hiding A.I.M with the Mandarin. Only difference here is that Winter Soldier is real and I'm sure a lot of us will appreciate that.
-The Triskelion! I hoped the Marvel movies would give this since AOS has mentioned it. I loved this place in the Ultimates and it being in D.C. makes a lot of sense.
-Falcon is a boss. Loved how he was already established with his flight suit but just not active at the time.
-Black Widow is finally interesting and well-used. She was tacked on in IM2 and I didn't like a lot of her dialogue for Avengers. Here she makes sense and lights up the screen. Plus, I don't think ScarJo has ever been in better shape.
-Arnim Zola and Baron Strucker were so simple yet well used.
-I knew that Sitwell dude was shady!
-The movie being described as a political thriller is definitely accurate. They touched on Cap's past really well and gave us some quality emotion connections so we could understand what he was going through.
-All my beautiful helicarriers!!!! Why!?! I guess they still have the original one and tons of S.H.I.E.L.D. stuff around the globe so I don't get the deal with people leaving to work for Stark or the CIA. Those places were probably defunded when SHIELD too over. How the heck is this going to work with AOS if there is no SHIELD? What about all the things they were keeping safe or prisioners? What about another "New York"? I don't see Marvel ditching SHIELD in the movies completely or permanently.
-Is this the best comic movie ever? I think it's got to be my favorite Marvel movie but I'm on the high of having just seen it. I'll give it a couple of weeks and then see how it sits. It's different than a film like The Dark Knight but I think it's no less good. The parts I don't like have nothing to do with something wrong in the movie. Like, I just don't like that SHIELD is gone instead of rebuilding and it's all pretty bleak but that is clearly by design and I can't wait to see what's next.
Post credits: I guess they have to explain Quicksilver and Scarlett Witch somehow but them being science experiments is kind of worse than no explanation at all if you ask me.
