I thought Claire looked worried when Smocke said he was going to finish what he started as if she didn't want them killed, so I don't think Smocke could get her to kill them. However, she does seem a tad on the nutty side, and they did just try to leave in the sub without her, so that might make her a little upset.

That was one of my favourite moments when Sawyer asked, "Why don't you turn into Smoke and fly off the island," and Smocke replied, "Because I can't." And Sawyer says, very sarcastic, "Yeah, because that would be ridiculous." Sawyer gets all the best lines.
