and we have people like this...what do we call this individual?
Like the guy above me has implied, there's little to no reason for anyone to spend that much money on these things. Are these the only auctions on ebay for these two pieces? Even so, someone would have to be flat-ignorant to be anything but amused by those two auctions.

There are always going to be people selling things for crazy amounts what the majority are selling for a fraction of that. If they were the only auctions I could see the reason for frustration, but otherwise I wouldn't sweat it. Those guys will never make money on those kinds of auctions.

EDIT:
Beings that there are a lot of "new" people posting in this thread, I think I'll tell my funny story with repackagers. Back in 2008(right?) when the Marvel Universe line started, I found a series 1 Iron Man at Toys-R-Us. However, the package actually had a Super Hero Showdown Iron Man in it. It was the first time I'd ever seen a repackage, so I told one of the employees about it. I didn't know if they could do anything about it, hell, I was pretty new to the collecting scene. The employee's response was that "sometimes figures have variants" and that this was probably what it was.

I have a pretty uncanny memory for variants and those sorts of things, so I told him that it wasn't, but an old figure, from a line that was around years before. That Iron Man, to this day is the only SHS figure I own, so I just figured I'd let the guy know. He, and a coworker who had shown up to listen, just laughed at me and went on their way. This was my first introduction to employees not giving a shit about that kind of stuff. And really, why should they? But back then I didn't know any better.

Oddly enough, most of the places in Oregon that I've been don't have repackaged toys. I was REALLY sad when I went to Ross and they had an Attack on Cobra Island set, missing, of course, Outback. I think that the Wet-Suit was missing too, a huge selling point for me. I think there was a G1 figure in there too, but open spaces in the packaging for the most part. I guess Oregonians(at least in the Salem to Eugene areas) are pretty lucky in that regard. So, I don't really know what a lot of you guys have to go through on a regular basis.

I will say though, these days it's hard for me to get worked up about not finding items I want. Aside from how trivial I think it is, I also am able to realize that, especially in Hasbro's case, things will be scarce for a good 3-4 months, and then stores will be flooded with the figures I couldn't find.
