One of the show’s organizers, Zach Kruse, says that “80 artists and writers from every level of the industry” will be in attendance, including Gary Friedrich, creator of “Ghost Rider”; Mike Norton (“Spider-Man Adventures”); Chris Burnham (“Marvel Mystery Comics” featuring the original Human Torch and the Sub-Mariner); Robert Atkins (“G.I. Joe”); Dan Davis (“Scooby-Doo”) and Art Baltazar (“Billy Batson and the Magic of Shazam”).

“This is a very artist-focused show,” Kruse says. “We wanted to focus on the art of making comics.”

In addition to the requisite, sizable area devoted to vendors and retailers, the Summit City Comic Con will have an Artists Alley, Kruse says.

“It’s a chance to wander around and check out what these guys are doing,” he says. “You can pick up some original art, get signatures and sketches, and sit down and chat with the people who make these books we love so much possible.”

Atkins is no stranger to GI Joe, aside from working on the ongoing IDW GI Joe series with Chuck Dixon, he also penciled the Snake Eyes Declassified miniseries for DDP, in addition to designing the Plague Troopers!
