Pretty much the same as a lot of the others who have posted. I tend to keep figures in the package until I have a place to put them. It keeps them safer from accidental damage and ensures accessories remain with the figure. Ultra-rare stuff tends to stay in the package. Lately, everything I have is still in its package as I have no display options available for my collection.

I would say it comes down to what you want from your collection. A lot of collectors like to see the figure mint in the package and that's where they get their enjoyment. These almost without exception have a higher resale value later should your want/have to say goodbye to your collection. However, many of us forego the possibility of a high resale value in favor of the fun of creating a display that is all our own. Like I said, it depends on what you enjoy and what you want from your collection. You will find people who are passionate about both ends of the spectrum and most who fall somewhere in between.

There are some amazing collections showcasing both styles in the collections forums. If you are undecided about what you want to do, checking those out for inspiration may help.
