They look like hand-painted prototypes to me. But that's pretty much a standard practice for Hasbro regarding as-yet-unreleased product on display at conventions. They may not be that far off from the version that will eventually appear at retail, but still technically prototypes.

I am just the messenger mate! Vonner said it, not me. On other site they tried to dispel the number but couldnt. I have no opinion either way, just quoting the man who MIGHT know. Seems low, but some of the GREATEST things ever were oddly underproduced. The famous James Bond DB5 Astin Martin comes to mind. I agree it seems.far.fetched, but he did say that number as of it were a.fact. That being the case, I think one needs to contemplate it as a possibility. True or not we will never know.

They may be hand painted, but the base figure is what we are getting. That is what i meant as NOT A PROTOTYPE. I agree that they always have some in house painting before they are proper done in China.
