You guys are right, TWD is boring throughout the season. Which is why these marathons suck even more (seriously AMC you only ever played one true marathon for Breaking Bad and that was when it was ending, the show that a lot of people now consider the best drama/best show ever, and it only got one marathon so far). I mean season 2 of TWD was literally just them on a farm, doing nothing, the zombies weren't even a backdrop for most of that season. Stupid feckin' farm. For me zombies aren't really horror anymore, they can be horror-action or horror-comedy but the actual scary original Night of the Living Dead zombies are gone it seems. 28 Days Later did them right, but that was 2002 and then [Rec] did zombies awesomely but that was 2007. Ever since then the zombie movie has been action or comedy with a horror theme. Not that I don't like any of those (I love Shaun of the Dead) but the horror's gone and sometimes I miss it.
Rant's over. Question time, does anybody here think horror can work via comics? I haven't read any comic that was ever scary, some are really messed up and dark/creepy, but I find it fairly hard to scare through this medium. With novels it works because as you read the details and have the mood set, that's suspense building. Granted, the jump scare (a favorite of paranormal movies) doesn't work in books, the more drawn out "makes you think" scare works well enough in the script. I suppose in any medium that isn't real-time you have to choose terror over horror. For those who have never heard of this: terror vs horror is the breakdown of any horror material that is based on the antagonistic value. A constant and physical threat (let's say Jason from Friday the 13th or Freddy Krueger) is a horror themed story, whereas a more anticipated or rarely seen threat playing more on the psych (more like The Thing, most of the eeriness of the film is the constant worry of who the thing has become) is a terror themed story.
