Nightmare on Elm Street is base on South-Eastern immigrant (Cambodian) who came here in the 70's and 80's who started having nightmares and some started to die in there sleep. When ask about it they said it was an entity that follow them to the new world. Wes Craven heard about these stories on the news than created Freddy out of it.
