That is what should never happen to any horror monster/icon. Making the villain even a tad sympathetic is what killed the Nightmare remake. If you make 'em sympathy-driven then they lose all credibility as a horror icon, and come off as a sad schmuck shell of their former self. I find it hard to watch when a figure known for ripping people apart, eating through their heads, etc. becomes soft.
