As collectors, we may not always see the value here. Parents who know nothing about the comics will buy the person they know because they've seen them in commercials for movies. I was in Toys R Us yesterday and a woman was asking me "which of these characters are famous?" There were a few left over Guardians, Cap and Spider-Man legends. I tried to recommend Star Lord and her answer was "Who?". I felt like it was pulled from the movie, haha.
I'm not saying the big names are in every wave, but Hasbro mostly throws them in, Toy Biz did the same. Would I love a wave with zero anchor figures? Sure! But I think it might be some time before we see that happen.
Movies are Key here, the GOTG film made so much money it opens doors for more nicher characters . I was so happy this film was coming out because i had no idea who they were sure i heard of them through animated shows etc but didnt see them , so this opens doors for marvel to explore or add new characters which they're kinda doing like Captain Marvel ,In-humans etc
