While the figs we love aren't directly made from crude oil, they are products that fit squarely in the category of petroleum based subsidiaries. When the price of oil drops, theoretically, so should the price of figures (with the inverse/opposite also being true). Lower gas prices should directly affect things like figure prices, provided the manufacturer/producer doesn't engage in 'gouging' tactics (yeah, right). It's something I've come to accept, in spite of my commitment to the expansion of green energy and the environment (I understand the hypocrisy imbedded in that statement, but we all tacitly embrace some demons). The silver lining is that we don't (normally) discard these items polluting the environment. However, we do enrich companies that a number of us would not normally want to endorse. Then again, we do the same thing when we purchase gas (and many other consumer goods)...sorry to be a 'Debbie Downer.'
