Edit #2 - Wow play art kai has some krazy looking figures. Is the articulation as good as the S.H. figuarts? S.H. Vs Play Art who would you chose?

You do know most play Kai arts figures run in the 9inch scale right?

Figuarts are awesome, I would recommend keeping those boxes since they are more collector friendly with repackaging compared to a normal blister and card packaging. Check out the captain America, iron man, and Thor from Figma, the articulation, paint apps, accessories are all ridiculous awesome.

Unfortunately, if you only buy the Japanese figures you are very limited to selection and most the figures will be based off movies or video game franchises. If you're a comic fan you will be disappointed because you won't see these figures resemble their comic form. Additionally, a lot of the import figures for 6in scale aren't allowed to be sold Directly in the US due to license rights with Hasbro. This means you will have to go through larger collector/toy websites that import them in themselves and typically charge a premium for them such as bbts or tfsource/toysource or order them directly from Japan from. So fair warning for you, collecting import figures gets pretty pricey, especially if you are going back and buying figures that aren't in current production.

For whatever it's worth, just buy figures that you think are cool and you really like. I wouldn't limit myself to any specific toy line.
