I can sum up most of the series in short. Major props to Tarngold of TFW, he helped us all learn some more of what the series are all about:

Exkaiser

The space pirates, the Geisters, come to Earth in search of treasures. Hot on their heels are the Kaisers, an intergalactic peacekeeping force. The six Kaisers - Exkaiser, Blue Raker, Green Raker, Dash Max, Drill Max and Sky Max - all take on earth mode disguises so they can lie in wait and act whenever the Geisters make a move for a treasure (which can in their definition be anything from an antique camera to a space shuttle mission). The Geisters can transform inanimate objects into dinosaur-themed mecha, and also fuse them together in new configurations. They are led by Dinogeist / Dynoguyst, a powerful warrior easily the rival of the strongest Kaiser warrior, Great Exkaiser.

Fighbird

Fighbird takes a similar theme but puts a more mature spin on it. The villains, Draias and his followers, come to Earth and ally with a mad scientist Dr Jango. Their scheme is to gather "minus energy" and ultimately remake existence as a twisted, dark version of what we know, with Draias as its god. Opposing him are Fighbird and his allies, who like the Kaisers from Exkaiser, are energy beings who take on earthly vehicles as bodies. Fighbird has a human identity - Katori Yutaro - and he lives with the family of the good natured if a little wacky Dr Amano and his two grandchildren. As the series progresses, Draias gains a powerful and near unstoppable mechanical body and destroy's Fighbird's Firejet, leading to the creation of the Fire Shuttle / Granbird. When Firejet is rebuilt, Fighbird merges the two vehicles to form his ultimate form, Great Fighbird!

Da Garn

Da Garn takes a more arc-based approach to the story, with each group of episodes chronicling the attack of a different member of an alien alliance out to drain Earth of its energy. This time around, the Braves are the spirits of the Earth (except one who is the spirit of an alien world...). When the main character finds the Brave Stones, which contain the spirits of the Braves, they enter nearby vehicles to become robot defenders of the world. Arguably one of the best series, it's a lot more fast paced with some memorable and well-developed enemies, each with their own personal "style". Pink uses feminine mecha. Debutcho mostly uses genetically engineered kaiju. Redlon uses classic styled mecha (he later pilots the Red Geist, a Dezaras inspired design)

Might Gaine

The best way to sum this up is Batman meets Brave robots. Sempuhji Maito is a rich orphan and head of his father's business empire in a world where fossil fuels dried up and everything runs on electric engines. He's partnered with a Super-AI robot, Gaine, and together they fight a colorful rogues gallery which includes a cat burglar, an amusement park shogun out to restore feudal japan, a mad scientist, and a former military pilot turned rebel without a cause. The story picks up mid series when the truth behind the death of Maito's parents is revealed and a shady businessman who is pulling the strings from behind the scenes, Mr Exeve, is revealed. From that point onwards, things kick into high gear, as Maito and his friends race to stop Exeve's plan of world domination.
(This series also features Sally, whose constant job-swapping cameos is one of the better light-hearted moments, although sometimes she seems to just exist to get in harms way).

J-Decker

This series is one I've not seen so much of. It basically revolves around a boy Yuuta who accidentally discovers and activates a super-AI robot named Deckard, forming a bond between the two. Yuuta gets enlisted into the police as he's the only one able to bring out the full strength of the super-AI robots. The show mainly takes the form of "criminal of the week" for the first half, with a new recurrent villain Guilty O'Reilly showing up mid series. There's also an ongoing subplot involving the tragic past of the initial super-AI project.

Goldran

Goldran is something of a parody, a much lighter-hearted series with lots of humor. The story is about journey or adventures, with the motto of the final episodes seeming to be "adventure never ends". I don't know Japanese so I'm not sure of anything beyond the fact that the final bit has the dialogue "bouken" a good number of times. Anyway...
The story goes that the three main kids are journeying the world, racing to find the mythical power stones before the villain, Walter Walzack, does. Whoever claims them all can unlock the path to the legendary power of Legendora (or something like that). When this actually happens mid-series, the gang set off into outer space and have many adventures on alien worlds, all the while going up against Sirius Walzack, Walter's brother. Walter's still about under the Harlock-inspired identity of Itar Izack with possibly one of the coolest mecha of all time, Captain Shark - a pirate mecha who turns into a gigantic spacefaring shark.

Dagwon

Dagwon is the Sentai-styled series. Five (later rising to eight, if you count Luna) teens are selected by Brave Seijin to counter the inmates of the alien prison Sargasso (named for the Sargasso sea theory). The inmates have taken over the prison, and Earth is their next target. Very character based, this one, with some ongoing arcs between episodes. It also spawned an OVA, which was very light on action and had no real mecha appearances at all. The ending to this series, the final episode, was one of the show's best and arguably one of the best anime finales ever - the last battle is over, and the heroes have to come to terms with the cost that victory came at.

And last but not least:

Gaogaigar

The greatest of them all, arguably. Gaogaigar follows the story of Guy Shishio, a former astronaut turned into a cyborg to keep him alive following a near-fatal space shuttle accident, and young Mamoru, a boy with alien powers. No angst over their unusual situations in this series, though - the heroes accept their gifts and use them to fight for the good of mankind against the Zondarians, and their Zondar monsters. The Zondar are created from people with a lot of stress or anger, such as a scientist angry about being overlooked in favor of a rival. On purification, these Zondar repent their ways, with some even joining the heroes later in the series.
Part way through the series, the mastermind of the Zondarians, Pasda aka EI-01 is defeated. But a new enemy emerges - the 31 Machine World Primevals. These 31 prove much tougher than the Zondarians, and new weapons and allies are needed to fight them. Even then, they are no laughing matter. Ultimately though they too are defeated, along with their "true" united form, the Z Master.

Gaogaigar has a sequel OVA, known as Gaogaigar Final

Final is the Ragnarok of the Braves. After the destruction of the Z Master, the 11 Masters of Sol activated and began a quest to recreate their lost solar system. The heroes of the GGG tried to stop them of course, but the battle was huge and costly. Even with the true power of the ultimate form of Gaogaigar, Genesic Gaogaigar, they were hard pressed to win.

It's eight episodes of the best, purest, hot-blood action out there, and the ultimate sequel to one of the greatest series ever made.

There's also a couple of videogame Braves:

Baan Gaan

Appears in the first two Brave Saga games. Baan Gaan and his companions at VARS fight against the evil forces serving Grandark, along with a host of enemies drawn from all the other Brave series (except Gaogaigar who is featured in the sequel).

Varion

Varion is the main mecha who turns up in Brave Saga 2, along with some other characters like Magna and Flash, who could all be considered part of Baan Gaan's universe as I think they all hail from Astaria, but I might be wrong. Gaogaigar plays a relatively prominent role in this one, and adventures from the other Brave shows not used in the first game, such as the Satan J Decker saga, are also incorporated.

Both Brave Saga games are basically crossovers, but it is so good to get to play as a lot of these guys.

Rayserver

Appears in the PS2 New Century Brave War game. I've not played more than the first couple of missions, but it starts out that the hero and Layzer / Rayzer go after one of the villains who hops through different realities at will with the hero's childhood (girl) friend in tow. No idea where it goes from there, I've got to play through the second Brave Saga first!
