I just prefer detective, bank robber ass kicking, slightly realistic Bat Man to "lets go to the other side of the universe to team up with Green Lantern and stop a cosmic threat" Bat Man. for me it was the "Marvel Team Up" of cartoons, fun, cool for what it was, but not my idea of batman.
You gotta watch the episode "legends of the dark mite" as it talks about exactly what you are saying lol. I couldn't find a decent clip but here is the jist:
I really appreciated the show as my son was a toddler when it was on and we could watch it together and both be entertained. Also it segued into beware the batman (also a show that just got better and better). I was watching avengers assemble cartoon last night and I thought it was hilarious that nighthawk (marvels allegory to batman) was voiced by the same guy in beware the batman! All these little Easter eggs make these shows very enjoyable lol.
