This show of force is more for the casual collector and casual consumer, the same people that made such a freak show of stuff like the Episode I midnight event where people fought over figures that would be available for MONTHS.
And if things go as with Transformers 4, the online guys aren't going to see much of an immediate need for the product to begin with: stores will be SO HEAVILY stocked for wave 1, few are going to bother with online guys at all.
And if TFA becomes a sellout level success (doubtful), THEN I could see the online guys picking up some slack, but that is months away from being a consideration.
That's the point... once people see that the toys are easy to get in stores, few will bother buying them online. They have an opportunity now to sell a large amount of preorders, while hype and anticipation is building and people are apprehensive about being able to get the items they want. It will be easier to sell online before people see how prevalent items end up being in stores, not after. This is why I made the point that they are probably not happy right now. And I don't think there is anything casual about a consumer who is going out to a midnight toy release.
