Speaking from someone who has done professional business with Taobao (i.e. NOT buying/selling... more in the intertubes side), be very careful with any and all things on there. It may be China's eBay, but keep in mind that it's still wild wild east, unregulated, you-have-no-leg-to-stand-on-if-you-get-screwed China, and is sketchy as shiiiiiiiiiiiiit.

I find myself salivating over some of those hella cheap figures but I won't even bother with TB. To me, it's not worth the hassle. It's why I stick with what I call cBay (the Chinese/Hong Kong sellers on eBay) because A) I've bought from most of them before so I know how they roll (they even have given me good customer service when I've needed it) and B) if you do get hosed there's steps you can take to recover losses - they're not flawless, but at least you're not boned by default.
