My first post was about the Tv Arrow & Flash figs, but I agree with you for the animated versions.
Since the animated figures are very stylized, it's more the general aesthetic of the figure that is ruined by these leg/hips articulations. Compare the old Kenner TAS Catwoman with the recent DCC one, the V cut at the hips doesn't break the lines of the figure like the "Mattel-like" are doing.
