Hi guys, I was googling around for news on the Dairugger XV jumbo and came across this post.
Thanks for posting these pics.
Sadly, I agree that for the money, if these pictures are the intended final product, I'm going to pass. the box art is pretty sweet... And it's great to see them using the correct names of the characters, Beast King Go Lion and Armored Fleet Dairugger XV.

Did toynami confirm that these are production? Are these just test molds or vinyl mock ups?

I'm not sure why Toynami took the direction they did with these pieces.
Especially when there is already a perfect Go Lion Jumbo in existence.
It came out in 1983 or 84 in America and was part of the LJN toyline.
Known as Voltron Giant Commander in the US.
Popy originally released this piece as well, and, like most things imported from Japan, The Japanese version is considerably better. The American version is nothing to scoff at, but it lacks the missile holders on the legs, and of course, the missile firing ability of the red and green lions.

Given this already PERFECT specimen, Dairugger should have been molded accordingly.
This way a new Dairugger Jumbo would fit right in with an existing vintage collection, something I desperately want.

Here's some images of Commander Voltron, which in my opinion is what should have been re-released. Maybe next go round?

All in their happy home.
