Heck some of the most recent waves are on Ebay and going for less than the full case cost 6 months ago.
The ones we're specifically planning on keeping are Spider-Gwen, Beetle (Janice Lincoln), Jack O' Lantern, and Morbius, which makes half the case. And again, that's not even taking into consideration that we might end up keeping others once they're in-hand.

It wouldn't be a case of necessarily trying to make back what was spent, mostly just getting the figures we don't want out to people who do want them. Especially since I'm more than happy to sell a figure off for a lower price if it's divulged of its BAF part.

Also, while lately the local stores have been pretty good about ordering the newest waves, it's not always the case, and given the current popularity of Spider-Gwen, I'd like to at least lock her in.

True. I currently have a bag of BAF pieces no one seems to want :lol

Going back to your BAF question, piece by piece might be a better idea. I have seen the recent All Father BAF go for cheap, but certain parts, like the legs for example, will go for more money. This isn't always the case, but it does happen sometimes. You're best bet might be to wait a bit, see where the prices go, and then sell your stuff.
Normally I don't look into getting cases - we usually just pick and choose, and to up this point, we've never gotten more than two figures from a given wave (Wasp and Giant Man from the Ant-Man/Ultron wave, Scarlet Witch and Captain Marvel from the Avengers/Allfather wave, Spider-Girl and Spider-Man 2099 from the Spider-Man/Hobgoblin wave). But with more characters coming out that one or both of us are interested in, we're looking at the full-case option as a good way to lock in who we want without having to necessarily hunt all over the place.
