They've been my top 5 favorite X-Men for as long as I've been an X-Men fan and I don't see it ever changing.

I'm actually bummed that Hugh Jackman is hanging up the claws after the next Wolverine movie but I commend him for being so committed to the character for so long. Going on 16 years now if I'm not mistaken and no matter the quality of the movie he gave some great performances.

I think it all depends on who you were exposed to first, and who you grew up with reading. That's why, for the most part, the animated series is what resonates with the widest audience in terms of affection for X-Men.

While the first five will always be "the originals," it's Claremont/Byrne's Uncanny team that drives that idea of what X-Men is home.
For me, I'm not too picky with exact favourites, because you'll always be disappointed that they're not being utilised/used enough. I just try and enjoy who's on what team and find favourites in that particular series. The best thing about X-Comics is that anyone is always someone's favourite!
