Announcing that I'm not a 'proponent' of legacy doesn't make me an 'opponent' of the phenomenon. DC's moves for Dr. Fate (Kent, Inza, and Hector all doing stints as Fate) definitely established the hero as more of a 'title' than a 'character,' and I liked the implementation of the concept (and LOVE Fate). That said, I think that particular move was designed to bring Fate more in line with Strange and the concept of a 'Sorcerer Supreme' mantle. It added depth and flexibility to the character of Fate; something that Strange always enjoyed, whether that was intentional or unintentional on Marvel's part. Legacy and torch carrying characters can be very successful and well done, but the formula gets old quickly when abused. Comics have suffered though a paucity of ideas for quite a while now and the preponderance of legacy heroes serves to illustrate that fact. IMO But, everyone can like what they want...I'm just worried about the frequent choice to re-brand an aging property in lieu of going about the work of creating something new. Feels stale....
