@Nash, Oddly I have seen some online devotion to the big guy Maggott! Oh man, Ceclia Reyes, I love her, too. Cecelia, Moira and Kavita Rao would be the collective arse-kicking medical team of the X-Men.

@TBM, This is the exact reason as to why I enjoy X-Men comics to the degree that I do. There are your typicals who float around every X-book, yet some writers enter the fray who adore a certain, particularly cult character. Be that Sam Humphries with Spiral and Puck, Matt Fraction with Madison Jeffries, Jason Aaron with Quentin Quire, Si Spurrier with Marrow, etc. Due to this love for them, they write in that consistent presentation which stays truthful to the character's history while forming new ground for development. It is this love for an underused character which creates some magnificent and fresh storytelling.

Sure, there are some characters who are conjured by writers to fill a single arc-story, a one time villain. They stay that way, stagnant, floating in Limbo, and then someone like Mike Carey pops along and brings us the sensational characters of Lady Mastermind (or, now, just Mastermind) and Omega Sentinel. Two originals crafted by Chris Claremont in his modern years, relatively unknown, and yet Carey brought them into the core of his team and the two have since become fan favourites. If writers gave a chance to the "little guy," so to speak, rather than attaching instantly to the Magnetos, the Colossuses, the Wolverines, they could whip up a new-found gem.
