A couple of thoughts on the new Cap wave after goofing around with them a bit tonight...

Captain America: I'm actually shocked how well it turned out, and much like how Pizza Spidey became one of my favorite Spider-Man figures ever, so has this Cap. Bout the only thing I can honestly complain about is the clip styled shield (besides being a bit on the small side, I would have preferred elastic or sculpted straps.) The shoulder straps are also pretty pointless...they fall right off every time, but in a static pose, sit pretty well. Definitely the best Cap figure Hasbro has put out this far, and while it's apples and oranges, stands it's ground quite nicely against Toy-Biz's Face Off Cap as one of the best.

Cottonmouth: I love the colors and the head sculpt, but forget the Bucky Mold...is there any way that Hasbro can retire the Hyperion mold? It's proportions are silly and it's friggen ridiculous looking. My least liked figure out of the wave, if it weren't for the crisp deco and head sculpt, he would be hitting eBay.

Whirlwind: Also not a favorite of mine in figure form as I really can't find a whole lot to compliment on it. I do like the choices of colored plastic and mine didn't have any marbled parts. The removable blades on his wrists were a nice touch, although the feet look a tad too big. Still I've always liked goofy looking villains, and this guy looks like he came out of a NES Mega Man game. I loved beating on him in the old Avengers arcade game, and I'm sure my Caps and Iron Mans will love beating on him now.

Scourge: Granted, I know nothing of this character, but I really dig the figure. A very clever retool of the ASM2 Electro body. I really love the paints and the web-gear, all of which is removable, including the leg holster! About the only complaint I have is that mine came fresh out of the package with some unusually loose joints. The plastic feels a bit different than the rest of the wave, so I'm chalking it up to that. Good figure to have, and it's always nice to be able to add another street level villain. I can imagine a lot of people though looting this guy for the web-gear and weapons, as he comes with some nice accessories.

Mockingbird: Another character that I know little about, but is surprisingly my favorite figure of the wave thus far, barely beating out Wolf Cap. Lots of new sculpted parts makes it look like a nearly new female buck, even if a lot of pieces are still being reused. The removable sunglasses are awesome, and although I still don't understand why they don't put arm swivels at the biceps on the female figures, she can strike a lot of really cool poses. If we get a Diamondback in the future, I hope it uses this buck.

Just need to track down Taskmaster and Sharon Carter now to finish the set!

On a side note...Anyone who was thinking of picking up a Black Series General Hux to do a headswap with Mandroid Red Skull for a more contemporary look, I have some bad news...unfortunately, the head does not fit. Oh well...at least I have a Hux now to finish out my SW EP7 Black Series collection!
