It's not as common now as it was then, but Marvel has a formulaic look they consider to be "classic." A "look" that influenced greatly the original creation of the "The Marvel Universe," determining sizes and weights for many of their heores. The Buscema family's art used to represent that iconic look and the standard they set carried well into the 90's. The Romita family also carried that torch, as did the Kubert family, more recently. All of these lineal talents are part of schools that have trained many Marvel artists in how to draw with a fairly consistent theme.

Even if you set aside Marvel's "classic look," which is hard to do considering that this phenomenon played an important role in the scales set up for Toy Biz's (and subsequently, Hasbro's) Marvel Legends Figures, Hasbro's "comic" Thor is quite out of place among the figs themselves. I'll use a couple of the characters you mentioned, namely Colossus and the Hulk. Colossus is over 7' in armored form and the Hulk ranges from roughly Thor's intended height of 6'6" (Mr. Fixit) to nearly 9'. The figs for both of these characters tower over most regular figs, as they should. However, equal in stature to both of them is Thor and the Wrecking Crew.

You're entitled to like whatever you want, of course, but many fans are calling for a redo of these figs due to scale probs. The only Hasbro "comic" Thor I don't have is that EU release, but I refuse to display or snap photos of them because they stand out like sore thumbs. The chorus is building to have these figs redrafted.

...also, I've close college buddies that are 6'5" and 6'6" respectively weighing in at two and one half bills...and trust me, they are "larger than life." lol
I don't have a problem if they want to make a smaller Thor. I just like the big Thors just fine. A Thor that's equal in height to Iron Man and barely distinguishable in height (only two inches at full size) from Captain America would just look weird to me at this point.

I like the hulking Wrecking Crew, too. Gives them really good "shelf presence" if that makes sense.

Again, I don't have a problem if they make a "Marvel Universe Handbook accurate" Thor (or two or three). I'd buy 'em. And as others have noted here, a "classic" Thor (swappable Masterson-Helmet and Classic heads) would be long overdue.
