Nick Fury in the Ultimates looks very similar to Samuel Jackson. It's kind of inside joke if you will, as when the Ultimates series debuted, there was a issue where Nick Fury and the rest of the team are sitting around having a conversation about who they would want to play them in a movie. Nick Fury comments that he'd like to be played by no one other that Samuel L. Jackson. It was one of the reasons that so many of us geeked out when we first saw Nick Fury introduce himself in Iron Man all them years ago.
