@TBM, Fair enough! As I know, art is crucial to you in the comic medium as a visual person, which it rightly should be. I misconstrued your affection for the classics and dissatisfaction of the contemporary for being jaded, and for that I most assuredly apologise. I have encountered people from time to time who dislike anything recent because "now is bad, then is great," which is a mindset that can only result in absolute disappointment.

As I say, I can throw around the word "love" because I really do feel that way about plenty of artists. I can sit and gaze in awe at a panel from a comic drawn in 1938, 1963, or 2013 and fall for how the bodies are drawn, how powers are depicted, how (you'll laugh at this one) rubble is shown. I love rubble. I said it! This is why I am drawn to Coipel so dearly. When Thor crashes into the ground, it cracks; chunks are flung skyward, clumps of soil fill the panel. It's cinematic as heck, but it's a detail that I very much appreciate!

I'm extremely curious though, what is it about Alan Davis, John Byrne, Romita Jr that draws you in? What is it about their work that grabs you so intently?

Bringing it back to figures, it's for this very reason that I enjoy variety in bucks, parts, costumes and expressions. I like a diverse group of characters who somehow fit together, with expressive powers and stylistic designs, and wicked cool accessories, of course.
