oh boy oh boy.. i was SO EXCITED for the DST ghostbusters figures.. i thought my dreams were coming true when they were revealed.

i bought the toys r us versions of ray and winston because i wasn't interested in building the diorama, and the price was nice.

i left them in their packaging until peter and egon were released.. so, i picked them up on wednesday.. and wow, i really can't recall a time that i was this let down by figures. i don't even know where to start.

lets start with the articulation.. no double jointed elbows?.. for figures whose main accessory is meant to be held and used with two hands?.. really? and worse than that, the joints they do have are all caked with excess plastic and paint, they're really terrible. they're overly tight and look pretty bad.

second.. the decals just seem haphazardly thrown on.to the point where some of them just came right off from touching them.

third.. the swappable hands.. thanks to how tight the connections are, it was impossible to remove the hands of ray and winston to the point where both hands on both figures broke leaving the peg lodged in. ugh.

fourth.. the flimsy plastic.. my first breakage right out of the packaging was the trap.. the wire just broke out of no where, it broke at the connection to the actual trap. second breakage is winston' backback.. the top of the alice frame dislodged from the top strap and the body. then there's the updated proton stream.. i hadn't even tried to use it yet and the clear peg broke the inner wire of the stream. also, why in the world weren't there any connectors with the first figures?.. you'd think that that's something that shouldn't be forgotten. oh, in it just seems like a matter of time before the wire going from the wand to the pack breaks.

fifth.. the paint.. it just seems muddy and rough. it's absolutely not clean. the eyes and stuff seem fine, but the surfaces seem really rough and unrefined.

sixth.. the feet.. these feet are EASILY the absolute worst feet i've ever experienced with any figure. the bottoms are so rounded that they're practically useless. and the little black bases included with the toys r us versions don't help much either. it's baffling that they would mold the bottoms of their boots this way knowing that stability with their backpacks is a necessity. it's unbelievable.

lastly.. the wand connection. this is probably the worst wand/pack connection i've ever seen.. a peg, or a real slot, or a magnet.. or anything else really would've been better than what they've done here. and with how fragile everything seems to be, trying to connect the wands to the packs is a major pain in the ass. i really don't get it.

these figures had so much potential.. but it's just another in a long line of 'meh' ghostbusters figures.

i'd give anything for 4 ghostbusters from hot toys.. or medicom.. or figuarts.. or figma.. or neca, threeA, or bandai, square enix, or hell.. at this point i wouldn't even mind ghostbusters done by hasbro in their legends line...
