I felt he was trying to push this too "trendy realistic/trendy statements" vibe, and sometimes it worked and sometimes it did not. Loved the reveal at the start of Planet X but it ultimately ended in such a way that it's up there as one of my least favorite storylines. Still, it was better the UXM at the time though thank goodness we had X-Treme X-Men!
You hit the nail on the head. Morrison gave some wonderful ideas to the X-Men mythos (Cassandra Nova, The Stepford Cuckoos, Emma and Scott, the return of the Shi'ar), but he was too insistent on the mutant culture becoming a dominant, trendy one. Ultimately, it was a thread that lead nowhere in his run, only to be eradicated as soon as he left. If there's one status quo that shall remain above all else, it's that the X-Men are the underdogs. No writer has messed with that formula and made it stick!

X-Treme X-Men was a combination of all the best bits of each era. Family dynamics, great characters, alien invasions, the Hellfire Club, and X-TREME COSTUMES..

BTW, out of curiosity, which Wolverine costume do you prefers, the brown or the yellow?
Unfortunately, it's canon. I would never recommend it, but the storyline Nash referred to, "The Draco," surrounded Azazel's attempt to get from Hell to Earth by impregnating women... on Earth... to get to Earth.

As for Wolverine, the brown suit for certain. When I think of Logan, it's of him in the brown/tan suit chomping a cigar in a dingy pub.

Funny fact: even though John Byrne is well known for depicting Logan in his yellow costume, he was the one who put him in the brown. Years later, Jim Lee gave Wolvie back his yellow duds and excitedly told Byrne that he was inspired by his work. Byrne insulted Lee and said he hated the yellow suit.

Oh and, Kain, how are you liking DoFP? Glad to hear you enjoyed the Dark Phoenix Saga!

Hopefully they'll release another. I have the original, which is a great figure (even better given my affection for the character), but he is outdated. He can't stand very well without an ankle pivot, for one thing.
