Yeaaah, I believe this to be the reason, too. Apparently two female characters can't wear biker gear in unison? It makes perfect sense for Jess, though, since she's always been a spy/private detective. World-ending superheroics is a bit out of her league..

Edit: Yeah, man. Did you not know that Chiwetel is playing Mordo? Both sides of the fan spectrum are up in arms over this movie (black Mordo/white Ancient One).
