My Icons Atomica, Harley Quinn, Lex Luthor and Superman arrived today, I'm very happy with all of them. Sorry about the picture quality:
I'm torn between Atomica and HQ as to which is my favourite, I have much more connection to HQs character but I liked Atomica in Justice League and Forever Evil (except for the end bit), and both are visually stunning figures with excellent articulation. But something about Atomica's almost metallic blue paint contrasted with the matte red and how well her face is painted really appeals to me.
Harley Quinn in her iconic costume, with her iconic mallet. Wonderfully sculpted, amazing paint apps, and superb articulation. I think possibly HQ and Atomica are the first female figures I have with double elbows, and it adds so much flexibility to how you can pose them. I had a bit of trouble posing her at first, still getting used to the lack of thigh swivels, but once you get used to it she poses very well and very naturally. I do wish she had come with her alternate head.
I really only bought Lex because getting him with Superman lowered the cost per figure of the order dramatically thanks to combined shipping, but I'm really glad I did. He's a really fun figure to pose, and his armour doesn't impede his articulation much at all thanks to some clever design. It's kind of awkward standing him next to Atomica though.
Superman. I really like this figure, I get why some people don't but none of the issues that have been pointed out with the figure bother me now that I have it in hand. There is some very subtle pink eye, but you need a magnifying glass to really see it and even under magnification it doesn't look bad. The biceps and elbow joints are kind of awkward looking but if you pose it right you don't really notice, ditto for the neck. Kelex is an awesome accessory and I haven't had any stability issues with him, I can flick him with my finger and he wobbles around quite happily without falling over unless I hit him far too hard.
So I'm really happy with all four figures, and I really can't wait to see how DC Collectibles does with the larger format figures like Batgirl and her motorbike and Darkseid. I'm going to try and get Mister Miracle, Hal Jordan and Aquaman at some point but that will be all from the currently available figures. Jon Stewart and the Joker are pre-ordered.
