I mostly don’t care about alter-egos. Like, I enjoy them as characters but I only want figures of their hero-self. Especially if they wear a full set of armor, because in that case it makes it much easier to imagine yourself in it.

Like, I collect a line of figures which has yet to produce its first non-armored version of one of their characters and I think hey will do so for their anniversary, but I don’t really care that much. You can also easily imagine the character inside the suit if that’s what you’re going for.

But I guess that’s a rather specific mindset which is not collectively shared, if you do like to buy the regular versions of certain characters but they are not produced then I guess repurposing other human figures or modifying them is a good idea.
