The only times C-3PO was completely gold were RotS (where, if I remember correctly, he was featured less prominently than any of the other movies in the saga) and the last shot of the Resistance crew at the base as Rey and Chewie leave to find Luke in TFA. 3PO's main look has always been gold with silver leg. EDIT (MORE IMPORTANT THAN THE MAIN PART OF THE POST): Ah, I see now that you were probably referring to the "all gold armed" 3PO mentioned by Skoob up there. He is referencing the OT C-3PO that is gold with silver leg, which is a Walgreens exclusive in the US.
