Really? Of course, everyone has their own subjective take...but the "doesn't translate well" line seems like film exec. speak for "I think the original costume looks corny and I'm going to reinvent/re-envision the classic concept and create something that looks even cornier."

Many of the talents associated with making these flicks aren't comic people, yet they think they know better as it relates to superhero design...riiiight. The "versus" fan-films that are all over the web prove there is no need to change classic costumes. Aspiring actors, make-up artists, costume designers, and film-makers are demonstrating that comic accurate renditions work perfectly well. If studios are still concerned that casual or uninitiated fans might be put off by the outlandish nature of super-hero duds, they shouldn't be. Casual fans follow the recommendations of their more hardcore friends. It works this way in almost every genre; music, movies, videogames, etc. Once a casual fan gets an endorsement from a friend they regard as informed or "in the know," they flock to whatever it is. Movie studios would be better served (IMO) by catering to long term aficionados and reaping the benefit of the word-of-mouth marketing generated from critical acclaim.

We have moved a long way from the early 2000's and the first X-men and Spiderman films. People are ready for the actual Galactus, so move over, amorphous purple cloud....
