Yeah, if anything, he looks like he should be called The Gremlin or something. Apparently, he's now a human/jackal hybrid thanks to genetic modification? Also, according to a browse around TVTropes, "Originally, no real reason was given for why he had a thing for jackals, though in 1995 the one-shot Scarlet Spider Unlimited revealed that he was once an associate of the High-Evolutionary, and that one of their creations was a man-jackal that ended up killing Warren's family."

At least one of his more recent designs, he runs around with an Anubis mask.

Hasbro pretty much made their SDCC a complete waste. Sure, Purple Man is my favorite of the set and I prefer the Abomination colors from that, but there was no need for it to exist at all. They could have just done a Dare Devil set and had Purple Man in that with Kingpin and Bullseye.

I'd agree for the most part, but honestly I doubt we'd ever have gotten a Dreadknight without the set, and if we had, I don't know that we would have gotten as nice of a deco. The rest of the figures were arguably better in their retail versions, and Kilgrave's presence in Jessica Jones would likely lead to a single-pack release for him at some point or another.
