Which, tbh, is well within his rights as director and writer - unless there's any mandate from Feige and/or others above him, he's under no obligation to use any characters he doesn't want to use.

Honestly, he seems pretty indifferent about the character, and if Marvel's not pushing him to use Nova, and Nova wouldn't fill a vital role in the story being told, I think it's just fine for him to not use the guy. After all, unless the MCU lasts for a few decades, we're not going to get all the characters we want to see, even if they're higher-profile ones. Case in point: I'm still waiting for Hercules to show up.

Well regardless gunns disdain for the cannon ( and mainly my ire at him makin ego quills dad which really just cocks up his entire origin and destroys a really big part of starlords story ) is what bothers me. Perhaps that article said he wasnt gonna use him but there was another one when asked ( mighta been entertainment weekly or a yahoo intview cant remember cause it was a couple years ago so forgive if im misquoting ) why he wouldnt gunn said he never cared for rick rider nova and thus had no desire to use him or even cameo him. And gotg would have really been the place to gove nova a spring board to his solo film ala black panther in civil war.

On a sad note....Veteran Star Mary Tyler Moore passed away at age 80.
