I met Neal Adams once and had the privilege of watching him draw. He possesses incredible knowledge of human anatomy. Most of his figures are very detailed, lean and muscular, with light and shadow enhanced by aggressive, sweeping curves and contours.

This seems like a loose but recognizable adaptation of his famous cover to Superman #233 from January 1971 (vol. 1). Following his detailed style too closely would increase cost and make the sculpt too fragile, presumably.

Interesting anecdote: THE NEAL ADAMS INTERVIEWS: Superman #233 (13thDimension.com, 24-Oct-2013)
Quote:
I was sitting in Adams’ Manhattan studio for what would ultimately become this series of columns. His daughter, Kris, walked in wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with the famed Superman-breaking-the-Kryptonite-chains. I pointed it out and she nodded toward Adams and told me to ask him what he thought of the pic.

I played along: “Superman 233. Do you like that cover?”

“I hate it,” he said, throwing me for a bit of a loop.
I like the WW statue. Sexy and strong.
