That said, I read an article by a physicist (his actual profession according to the writing, if I'm recalling correctly)/comic fan that approached explaining how Superboy Prime/Time Trapper (did that revelation stick?) might've been able to do that. He wasn't theorizing about that particular story, but he explained that due to Superman's power set of super-speed/invulnerability/and strength, at the very least, each blow of Superman's (and many similarly overpowered heroes) should create a sonic boom. He went on to express that given the extreme levels of Superman's strength/speed/and invulnerability, he could actually punch so fast and so hard that he could create the force needed to split atoms. Essentially, Superman "throws bombs." As in, atomic bomb punches. Now, I was pretty good at HS physics and can keep up with most layperson concepts, but that shit is bit above my pay-grade. However, when you extrapolate this concept of nuclear punches to what it might take to breach a dimensional threshold, maybe you get to a place where achieving such a stupid sounding stunt becomes possible... Science?!?! lol
The sad part is that an actual scientist took the time to analyze comic books. I hang my head in shame.
